Tutorial Printing of Cable Labels

PrintMyCableLabels.com is a convenient and easy way for you to design and print your labels online. This short tutorial will give you a walkthrough of how the process works. The “New Template” button to the left will allow you to select the label type that you would like to edit, as well as choose an optional preset template, to begin with, that is already started for you.

After you have selected your template, your window should look similar to this.

On the left of your window will be your main panel, which allows you to add shapes, images, sequences, and text objects to your label for editing. You can also perform other main functions such as loading a different label template, changing the background color of your label and clearing everything from your label to begin again. In the center of your window is your main canvas. Here you will see what the printable area of your label currently looks like. Any objects that you add will appear here. You can select objects by clicking on them with your mouse, and then move them by clicking and dragging, resize them by clicking and dragging the small control squares that appear around it when you select it, or rotate it by clicking and dragging on the control square that sticks out from the top of your selected object.

Once you have created an object from the main panel on the left and selected it by clicking it in the main canvas in the center of the window, a new panel will open up in the lower center of the screen. This is the selection panel, which allows you to modify your current selection depending on what you have selected. If you select a basic shape, you will see standard controls for changing its color, opacity, layer position, snap rotation, and also a copy button and delete button.

If you select a text, image, or sequence object, additional controls and options will be displayed depending on what you have selected. Here, a text object is selected, and options to set the font, text alignment, vertical spacing, fill color, border color, bold, and italic appears. To edit your text simply type into the textbox and it will be displayed in the main canvas at the top. On the right side of the window, is the preview canvas. Here you see an overview of what your label page will look like. If you click the “Click to Zoom” button, the preview canvas will expand to show you a larger, more detailed view of your label page preview. When you’re all finished creating your label, simply click “Print Ready EXPORT” beneath the preview canvas and a .pdf will be created of your label page that you can print right away, or save to your computer. Click “Blank Template EXPORT” beneath of that if you would like a blank version of the label template in Word format.
